Well, that's sad, and of course there will always be someone better than you (People in general) but you just gotta think, for every one person better than you there's probably two ore three that are worse.
I don't really care if someone is better than me. i'm not doing artworks to surpass others. I'm doing it because it's my dream, and i want to make them proud.
Your good in animating, then you won a Bamboo Tablet. But your mother doesn't like it?
Just think that you can be the best among the rest, but of course, you have to be careful with your popularity. Or people might backfire at you.
Now I should practice too. My emotions and drawing skill at the computer, so I'll show them(some classmates who hates me) who is wrong and who is the boss.
I hope you'll won a trophy here. But if your mom is still the boss(meaning liking others work but hating yours), STRIVE HARDER.

yikes dude... This hits me on a lot of levels. And I would love to give you advice but, my family has done the same thing a few times more or less..
you gotta do what you love for you, and the rest comes. Dont do it to impress anyone but yourself, or you'll get stuck in a rut..
Just keep practicing and enjoy doing what you love. The rest comes after that believe me.
